Date Worthy Of A Protest

We've all seen the new Stan Douglas piece-Abbott & Cordova, on the new woodwards building in all it's glory. The exhibit of police brutality is taken from the 1971 gastown riots, which occured on August 7th. The following article describes how police don't care for people remembering such a brutal police exercise in enforcing marijuana laws. Jim Chu, VPD Chief attempted to discourage the mural by claiming the event is a sad part of police history. It's not history though, peaceful people are still under persecution for something the majority of canadians feel is not a crime. If on August 7th, the 4:20 and Cannabis Day crowd made it to the woodwards building, I feel the media would have a hard time not highlighting some injustice. It's also the middle of summer, so that's groovy as well.
