Safe Injection and Harm Reduction Policy, passed by Manitoba NDP

Whereas Insite has reduced HIV/AIDS transmission rates, crime, public injections, neighbourhood litter, needle sharing, and offered a support system for drug addicts; and

Whereas it has led to an increase in users seeking detoxification and addiction treatment; and

Whereas it is supported by the Vancouver Police, Vancouver Municipal Government, the International AIDS society, the BC Centre for Excellent in HIV/AIDS, and local merchants; and

Whereas it is an additional method of harm reduction,

Therefore be it resolved that the Manitoba NDP encourage the provincial government to adopt a variety of harm reduction techniques, including to build and fund a Safe Injection Site similar to that of Insite.
