Medicinal Marijuana Policy passed by Federal NDP, 2001

WHEREAS marijuana has been used successfully to treat many medical conditions; and

WHEREAS marijuana is an effective pain killer where other analgesics have failed; and

WHEREAS the federal government itself is engaged in the growing and distribution of marijuana for medicinal purposes,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the NDP support the legalization of the possession of marijuana for medicinal purposes and encourage the government to make marijuana more easily available upon a doctor's prescription.
